About Yael

Yael Farber (she/hers) is a rabbinic & education student at Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles.

Originally from Westchester, NY, since moving to Los Angeles Yael has found her spiritual homes at Congregation B’nai Torah in Brentwood, CA, where she spent two years as the Student Rabbi and Congregation Or Ami in Calabasas, CA, where she was the Retreat Coordinator. Currently, Yael is a rabbinic intern at Stephen Wise Temple in Los Angeles.

Yael previously worked as the Director of Youth Engagement & Informal Education at Community Synagogue of Rye. When COVID hit, Yael supported her teens as they collectively navigated their new normal and eventually began her rabbinical school program on Zoom from her childhood bedroom. Finding more time on her hands than expected, Yael pursued a Digital Media Certification from Hootsuite and honed her skills as a digital marketer. Since getting back to a sense of normalcy, Yael has continued to build her digital skills and web design capabilities. She has built and managed websites using numerous platforms including Squarespace, Wix, and Weebly.

Outside of her work life, Yael enjoys writing Yelp Reviews, baking sourdough, listening to Taylor Swift on vinyl, and going on walks with her dog, Ariyeh.
